Top questions about photoshoot in a desert

Our clients are concerned about many different questions before a photoshoot in the desert. We will try to answer most of them.

1. Snakes and scorpions

Whether there are any dangers in the desert, such as snakes and scorpions. The answer is here: we have not come across anything for 7 years of constant shooting in the desert, except camels that are very friendly and even allow us to take photos with them.

2. What should we take with us?

Water. We always take care of our clients and take a supply of water to the desert. However, if you take your favourite drinks or just water, believe us, it will never be superfluous!

3. Dress or make-up?

Of course, both of them should be. But if the budget is limited, we advise you to choose a flying dress. The photo session looks much more interesting with it. Make-up in the desert disappears from your face very quickly because of the heat and it is not always visible in the daytime.

4. How long will it take to get to the place?

The desert is located about 100 km from Dubai. It takes about an hour, but in order not to be late before sunset, we advise to allow about 1.5 hours on the road in case of traffic jams and possible stopover.

5. Is there anything closer?

There are some deserts that are located closer to the city, but they are not so picturesque. There will be a lot of people, cars and rubbish. That’s why, it is better to spend extra 30 minutes on the road and shoot in a clean, empty and picturesque place.

6. What is an ideal time for a shooting?

Sunset or dawn. In my opinion, the sunset is more picturesque. But if we are talking about shooting in summer, it is better to choose morning hours until the desert is heated by the sun.

7. Is it hot in summer?

Yes, it's very hot! The temperature reaches 48°C during the day. Be prepared!

8. How far is it to go?

We know the locations for a shooting that are located very close to the road. But in order to take photos on clean dunes you will have to walk approximately 500 metres.

9. Is it possible to take small children?

It is possible, but it will be complicated in summer. Everything depends on how easily children react to the heat. Don't forget to take water and hats for kids.

10. Do we need an off-road car, will we be able to drive ourselves?

An off-road car is not needed if you are not going to drive far into the desert, for example, to a lost city. But if you have such an opportunity, then renting a 4*4 car will give you the opportunity to drive deeper into the desert to more beautiful dunes.

11. How many people can take part in the shooting?

As many as you want, even 10 people. We only advise you to increase the shooting time in accordance with the number of  the participants (1-1.5 hours per 2 people), especially if you want to take not only group shots, but also individual portraits. The number of people is limited only by the number of seats in the car. We can take 3 people, an additional transport will be required for the rest ones.

12. Is it possible to organise a photo session for less than 1.5 hours?

We used to offer 1-hour packages, but we can say that the minimum time for shooting, even for 1 person, is 1.5 hours. We do not take photos in one place and in one pose. In order to get interesting and diverse photos, 1.5 hours is the minimum time. It takes more than 2 hours to go there and back, does it make sense for 1-hour shooting?

13. Is it possible to shoot a video?

It is possible, we have spesialists who can take photos and shoot videos. But a lot of additional and very heavy equipment is needed for a high-quality video shooting. That is why minimum shooting time for the video is 1 hour. Or we can do video in a reels format on the phone.

14. We don't need an hour-long video, only 2-3 minutes

If you need to shoot even just a 1-minute video, and it should be amazing and interesting, you need to shoot 1-1.5 hours. If you want to shoot only 2-3 minutes, we advise you to shoot just on the phone.

15. Desert or beach?

It is a difficult question. Each location has its own advantages. We like the desert more. But if the budget is limited and you are worried about a long trip, it is better to choose a beach.

16. Is it possible to shoot in the morning but not in the evening?

It is possible and even sometimes necessary if the shooting is planned in summer. It will not be so hot in the morning. Be ready to get up at 4 a.m. and leave at 4:30-5:00 a.m., we need ‘low’ sun when the best light is.
